Christina Bleil, Consultant Neurosurgeon

Ms Cristina Bleil is a consultant neurosurgeon with over 10 years of specialised experience in paediatric and adult neurosurgery. She is the co-leader of the CSF Disorders Service, where she is dedicated to advancing care for patients with complex brain and spine conditions. Ms Bleil completed her medical training in Brazil and is an active member of the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery. She later moved to UK where she completed her second fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery at king’s College Hospital in London as well as the FRCS in neurosurgery. She is a member of the British Society of Neurological Surgeons and the International Society for Paediatric Neurosurgery. Her clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of conditions, including neural tube defects, paediatric and adolescent neuro-oncology, and the management of intracranial cysts. Additionally, she specialises in treating normal pressure hydrocephalus, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, longstanding overt ventriculomegaly in adults (LOVA), spontaneous intracranial hypotension, Chiari malformation, and craniocervical junction instability in both paediatric and adult patients. Ms Bleil is particularly passionate about minimally invasive neurosurgical approaches and has extensive experience in intraventricular endoscopy, which she utilises to treat complex brain pathologies while minimising recovery time for her patients. She is committed to advancing paediatric neurosurgical care through research, innovation, and a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring that every patient receives the highest standard of treatment and care.

Dr Milne has been a Consultant in General Paediatrics for 10 years. Whilst researching how to parent her own children with screens, Dr Milne realised the under-represented value the information had for all families and children with relevance to many different clinical presentations. She has been actively promoting safer screens with community leaders, families and politicians over the last 2 years with the aim of allowing families to make an informed choice for their children.

Dr Brown has been working on educating parents, health professionals, teachers and school leaders on the harms of screens for our kids. She is a member of Health Professionals For Safer Screens and with her background in Neonatology has a particular interest in improving information for pregnant women and the early years group.

Kate Quinan, Consultant Paediatrician

Kate completed paediatric training in London, including working at Great Ormond Street and UCLH primary paediatric oncology treatment centres. She has been a paediatric consultant at Kings since 2023 and leads the Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Service with Dr Tamara Roberts. She has an interest in medical education and is Child Health Undergraduate Lead at Denmark Hill Campus.

Dr Temitope Busari, Consultant General Paediatrician

Dr Temitope Busari is a Consultant General Paediatrician at King’s College Hospital with special interests in safeguarding children and infectious diseases. She currently serves as Deputy Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children and has extensive experience caring for vulnerable children and young people. She is committed advocating for adolescents and young people and to improving clinical responses to complex safeguarding concerns.

Ved Arya, Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist

I completed MD Paediatrics from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and subsequently completed Specialist Training (CCT) in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes on the London-Wessex rotation (Great Ormond Street Hospital and Southampton General Hospital). I also completed a PhD in ‘Understanding genetic mechanisms of congenital hyperinsulinism’ from University College London and worked as a clinical research fellow at Great Ormond Street Hospital during my PhD. I joined as a Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes in March 2017, initially at Evelina London Children Hospital and subsequently at King’s College Hospital (July 2017). I am passionate about research and have more than 40 publications in peer reviewed journals including publications in New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, European Journal of Endocrinology etc. I am a regular reviewer for manuscripts submitted to Journal of Paediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism and European Journal of Paediatrics.

Erica Makin, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon

Erica is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at King’s College Hospital with a subspecialist interest in Paediatric Hepatobiliary Surgery and Trauma. Erica is the Clinical Lead for Paediatric Surgery and Paediatric Trauma Lead for SELKaM Trauma Network. She is a member of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons and is the chair of the Trauma Committee.

Dr Alberto San Francisco, Consultant in Microbiology & Infectious Diseases

Alberto is an adult consultant in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at King’s College Hospital, where he is the lead microbiologist for Neonatology, General Paediatrics and Paediatric Haematology.

He studied medicine in Spain and trained in the Republic of Ireland, Brighton, and London. After completing his Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (DTMH), he worked in rural Ethiopia gaining experience in paediatric tropical infections.

Zoe Lane, Lead & Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children

I graduated with a BSc in General Nursing and Post Graduate Diplomas in both Paediatric Nursing and Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding.

I am currently working as Associate Director of Nursing for Safeguarding Children and Maternity. I have been lead in safeguarding services since 2015.

I am deputy Safeguarding Lead for the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine and have undertaken an Expert Witness Course. I have completed work alongside Child Protection professionals in Seattle. I have produced expert reports across the safeguarding partnership for law firms, local authorities and health.

In addition, I have been commissioned externally for training since 2019. I have extensive experience in training a variety of professionals on key safeguarding topics – Safeguarding Children, Medical Neglect, NAI, FII, Adolescent safeguarding (CCE/CSE) at both local and national levels.

Bhanu Williams, Consultant Paediatrician in Infectious Diseases

Bhanu is a consultant in paediatric infectious diseases at Northwick Park Hospital and is the Associate Medical Director for Education, Research and Innovation for London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. She is seconded for some of her time to NHSE as the South West London System Dean. She has is a Trustee and Assistant Registrar of RCPCH and has previously served as Global Officer.

Harry is a paediatric registrar currently working at King's College Hospital, London in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine.

Harry recently completed a post at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health as a clinical fellow, working on education, policy and advocacy on the impact of air pollution on child health, in partnership with the Clean Air Fund. He has interest in environmental health and the impact of health inequalities; particularly their clinical interface with respiratory medicine.

Dr. Benjamin Baig is a Consultant Liaison Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience, Kings College London. He leads the National and Specialist Paediatric Liaison service which specialises in Functional Neurological Disorders and other neuropsychiatric conditions.

Kush Rupasinghe, Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist

Trained at UCL Medical School, obtaining an MBBS qualification with an intercalated BSc in Medical Sciences and Psychology. Completed an MSc In Advanced Paediatrics at the UCL Institute of Child Health with distinction. Membership of Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH). Member of the European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and BSPGHAN. Sat on the College Special Advisory Committee (CSAC) for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (PGHAN). Held responsibility for U.K. PGHAN trainees' training and assessment. Also served as advisor for trainees. Sub-investigator for clinical trials in Paediatric Gastroenterology including novel biologic interventions in paediatric inflammatory bowel disease. Special interest in teaching, and former Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London with formal qualifications in teaching and education (GIC, MSc).

Ritika Kapoor, Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist

Dr. Kapoor obtained her primary medical degree from University of Mumbai in 1997. Following her MRCPCH in 2001, she received specialist Paediatric training at the East of England Deanery and obtained dual CCT in Paediatrics and Diabetes and Endocrinology in 2010. She trained in Paediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. She obtained a PhD from University College London on Genetics of Congenital Hyperinsulinism (CHI) in 2010 and since then has been a Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. She currently leads the Paediatric Endocrine service at KCH and the CHI service in South London. She also runs a specialist joint Endocrinology- Gynaecology clinic at KCH. Additionally, Dr Kapoor holds an Adjunct Reader position at King’s College London. Her research interest focuses on Congenital Hyperinsulinism, Growth Hormone therapy and Neuroendocrinology. She was recently awarded the MRC Clinical Academic Research Partnership (CARP) award to investigate the role of oxytocin in neurobehavioural problems in children with disorders of the hypothalamo-pituitary axis.

Dr Federico Minen, Consultant Paediatric Intensivist

Dr Federico Minen is a paediatric intensivist at Kings College Hospital, London. He studied medicine in Italy and trained in paediatrics at the Paediatric Research Institute of Burlo Garofolo in Trieste, Italy. He leads the Neurocritical Science programme within Paediatric Critical Care and has a particular interest in the management of acute intoxication.

Rachael Mitchell, Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine

I am a Paediatric Emergency Medicine consultant in at King’s and am passionate at delivering high quality care to our local population at the front door. I am King’s born and bred, having completed a Darzi fellowship here as a trainee, working on acute care pathways for CYP and I am really proud to have continued this work as a consultant. I am also passionate about promoting the national agenda for Paediatric Emergency Medicine. I currently sit on the APEM committee as the Events Officer and have run APEM sessions at both RCPCH and RCEM conferences. I co-wrote Standards for Paediatric Assessment Units, the Trainee Charter, and ‘Delivering Really Good Paediatric Training. I have recently co-written the ‘Children with Complex Needs’ Chapter for The Emergency Care Standards. I am a passionate educator, both as the education lead in the PED, as well as the Undergraduate Child Lead for King’s College London. Outside of work, I can mainly be found running after my two small children, and am fuelled by coffee and wine, in any order!

Trisha Radia, Clincial Director, Child Health

Dr Trisha Radia is a consultant Paediatrician at King’s College Hospital. Dr Radia developed her interest in acute paediatrics with rotations through the intensive care units at the Evelina Children’s Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital and King’s College Hospital. Following completion of the RCPCH HDU special interest (SPIN) module she qualified as a General Paediatrician with a Special Interest in High Dependency Care (HDU), and was the Lead Consultant for the Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU) at Croydon University Hospital prior to moving to King's College Hospital. She now works in general paediatrics and on High Dependency, here at King’s. Dr Radia has an interest in medical education and in 2016 developed, with a PICU Consultant, the HDU SPIN teaching Network. This network provides peer support, mentoring and monthly hybrid teaching sessions to paediatric trainees across the UK. Dr Radia is also an active member of the London School of Paediatrics, and has recently completed a roles Training Programme Director for Simulation in South London and Return to Practice for the London School of Paediatrics. Since September 2024, Dr Radia has taken on the role of Clinical Director for Child Health care group at King’s, managing almost 150 beds and 1000 staff. She has an interest in transformation work and influencing a positive culture in the NHS.
