Dr Rachael Mitchell

Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
I am a Paediatric Emergency Medicine consultant in at King’s and am passionate at delivering high quality care to our local population at the front door. I am King’s born and bred, having completed a Darzi fellowship here as a trainee, working on acute care pathways for CYP and I am really proud to have continued this work as a consultant. I am also passionate about promoting the national agenda for Paediatric Emergency Medicine. I currently sit on the APEM committee as the Events Officer and have run APEM sessions at both RCPCH and RCEM conferences. I co-wrote Standards for Paediatric Assessment Units, the Trainee Charter, and ‘Delivering Really Good Paediatric Training. I have recently co-written the ‘Children with Complex Needs’ Chapter for The Emergency Care Standards. I am a passionate educator, both as the education lead in the PED, as well as the Undergraduate Child Lead for King’s College London. Outside of work, I can mainly be found running after my two small children, and am fuelled by coffee and wine, in any order!
