Consultant Paediatric HepatologistMD FRCPCH Professor Dhawan graduated in medicine in 1986 and after completing his residency in Paediatrics in India, joined King’s College Hospital, London as trainee in Paediatric Hepatology in 1992. In March 1995, he was appointed visiting professor and consultant in paediatric gastroenterology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE, and USA. He relocated to King’s College Hospital, London in August 1996 as consultant Paediatric Hepatologist. He was appointed Professor of Paediatric Hepatology at Kings College London in 2005. He has published over 400 research papers and edited 4 books in paediatric hepatology and human hepatocyte transplantation. Prof Dhawan is proud of developing basic science laboratories for research in liver disease (Mowat Labs) and Slorach International learning hub. The facilities are dedicated to his mentor late Prof Alex Mowat, who believed in delivering innovative high quality care underpinned by strong basic science and share the knowledge worldwide.

She is seconded for some of her time to NHSE as the South West London System Dean. She has is a Trustee and Assistant Registrar of RCPCH and has previously served as Global Officer.

Consultant Paediatric EndocrinologistDr. Kapoor obtained her primary medical degree from University of Mumbai in 1997. Following her MRCPCH in 2001, she received specialist Paediatric training at the East of England Deanery and obtained dual CCT in Paediatrics and Diabetes and Endocrinology in 2010. She trained in Paediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. She obtained a PhD from University College London on Genetics of Congenital Hyperinsulinism (CHI) in 2010 and since then has been a Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. She currently leads the Paediatric Endocrine service at KCH and the CHI service in South London. She also runs a specialist joint Endocrinology- Gynaecology clinic at KCH. Additionally, Dr Kapoor holds an Adjunct Reader position at King’s College London. Her research interest focuses on Congenital Hyperinsulinism, Growth Hormone therapy and Neuroendocrinology. She was recently awarded the MRC Clinical Academic Research Partnership (CARP) award to investigate the role of oxytocin in neurobehavioural problems in children with disorders of the hypothalamo-pituitary axis.

Consultant Paediatric HaematologistSubarna is a Paediatric Haematologist with an interest in non-malignant blood disorders of childhood, including sickle cell and thalassaemia; rare anaemia and bone marrow failure syndromes. Since 2021, she has been involved in bone marrow transplantation in adults with sickle cell disease at King’s College Hospital. Subarna is currently serving as the National Specialty Adviser and chair of the Clinical Reference Group for Haemoglobinopathy in NHS England. She is also the clinical lead for the Sickle Cell Centre of Excellence project in King’s Health Partner’s Haematology. She led the UK Haemoglobinopathy Peer Reviews from 2018-2020. Subarna is an elected trustee of the British Society for Haematology and the UK Forum on Haemoglobin Disorders. Subarna is interested in clinical and molecular research in sickle cell disease and regularly publishes on these topics.

He has worked in children’s general paediatrics, endocrinology and diabetes all that time and has seen the huge changes that have happened in diabetes management, from fluids in DKA, through to carb counting, diabetes technology and soon immunomodulators. He will offer a personal reflection on some of the dilemmas in diabetes management for the generalist.

Consultant in Paediatric Intensive CareAkash Deep is the Director of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at King's College Hospital, London and Professor of Paediatric critical care at King’s College London. Prof. Deep is the Staff Governor at King’s College Hospital, London. Prof Deep is the Chair of Scientific Affairs for the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Society (ESPNIC). He chairs the Liver Failure Working Group for ESPNIC. He is the Chair for the Liver Failure Working group for PALISI (Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators) network. He has been the Founding Chair for the Critical Care Nephrology Section of ESPNIC. Prof Deep is the Chair for the Science and Education Committee of Paediatric Critical Care Society (PCCS) of UK. He is the advisor to the UK sepsis Trust for paediatric sepsis and is the author of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines for septic shock in children. Prof Deep is the Chief author of the Sepsis Toolkit for management of sepsis in children released by the UK Sepsis Trust at the House of Commons. Prof Deep has organised many national and international congresses on extracorporeal support CRRT and hosted the First International Conference of Critical Care Nephrology in London in 2023. He also was the co-Chairman for the 8th International Conference on CRRT in London and the 9th International Conference on CRRT in Orlando, USA. He was the Organising Chairman for 2019 U.K’s National Paediatric Intensive Care congress in collaboration with US’s Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society (PCICS) Prof is the Chief Editor for the official ESPNIC textbook published by Springer on ‘’Critical Care Nephrology and Renal Replacement therapy in Children’’. He is an invited national and international speaker in major Paediatric and Paediatric Intensive Care conferences. Special interests include various aspects of management of acute liver failure especially extracorporeal support in acute liver failure in children, acute kidney injury in neonates and children, Continuous renal replacement therapy, sepsis education/awareness and haemodynamics in septic shock.

Consultant DermatologistConsultant Dermatologist working in King’s College London from April 2019, graduated from Medical school in Bogota-Colombia in 1987 and trained in Dermatology from 1996 to 1999. Dr Duarte moved to England in October 2003 and after completing the exams and registration processes, she was recognized by the GMC and RCP London in 2005, she worked as a locum Consultant in different hospitals and was appointed as a Substantive Consultant Dermatologist in Frimley Park Hospital in 2008 where she worked for 3 years, then worked in East Kent Hospitals from May 2011, before moving to King’s College Hospital in April 2019. Dr Duarte has been running Paediatric Dermatology clinics weekly since January 2006. She started a MDT meeting with paediatric allergists that runs once monthly to be able to treat children on Biologics and Jaks for inflammatory skin conditions. Dr Duarte is a general dermatologist with special interests on Medical dermatology, Inflammatory skin disease and Paediatric Dermatology.

Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory MedicineProfessor Atul Gupta is the Head of the Children's Respiratory Service at King's College Hospital and a senior Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician. He is also a Professor of Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at King's College London. He is also the Research and Innovation Lead at Variety Children’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital, London. Professor Gupta is the Clinical Lead for the South-East London Asthma Network and serves on the Respiratory Clinical Specialty Advisory Committee (CSAC) at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH). He is the Audit and Quality Lead for the British Paediatric Respiratory Society (BPRS) and the Director of the Paediatric Respiratory Academy. Professor Atul Gupta's research is dedicated to children with complex and life-limiting respiratory disorders. He has focused on clinical research involving novel treatments and prevention strategies for severe asthma and lung infections. Additionally, he collaborates in basic science research to prevent asthma and to investigate the mechanisms underlying steroid-resistant asthma and the role of vitamin D. With over 200 peer-reviewed papers (h-index 42) published in prestigious journals like The Lancet and The New England Journal of Medicine, Professor Gupta has significantly contributed to medical literature. He has also authored chapters in paediatric respiratory textbooks and published reviews covering all aspects of paediatric respiratory medicine. Professor Atul Gupta has collaborated on 18 clinical trials. He has taken significant leadership roles, serving as the Chief Investigator for six trials, the Principal Investigator for 15 trials, and the sub-principal Investigator for eight trials. His contributions have been recognised with numerous national and international awards, including the Lorber Prize from the RCPCH, the James Fellowship from the British Medical Association, the VASR Memorial Gold Medal, the S.S. Manchanda Research Gold Medal, and the Dr. Somu Oration Award for his contributions to paediatric respiratory medicine.

Stephanie is a GP partner in a group practice covering a diverse inner city population of 15,500 in Lambeth, South London and founder and Clinical Director of the Well Centre, a young person’s integrated health hub with Primary Care, Health and Wellbeing Link workers and CAMHS. She has a special interest in developing accessible, young people friendly services in Primary Care and developing targeted services to more vulnerable groups of young people. She has been GP lead of the Children and Young People’s Health Partnership, (now CHILDS) since 2013. She is Chair of the RCGP Adolescent Health Group.

Ethics Committee ChairsRob is a Consultant Kidney Doctor and Associate Medical Director at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He set up and co-chairs the trust’s Clinical Ethics Advisory Group. That work includes providing support for teams making difficult clinical decisions in complex environments, particularly where there is moral distress amongst staff and/or disagreement between clinical teams and patients, families or carers. He studied philosophy at Cambridge before turning to medicine. His MD research was a social science study looking at how decisions about dialysis are made. He remains interested in what it is to do clinical ethics and how our views on what counts as ‘ethics’ are shaped.

He has had a diverse career to date with multiple different roles, Including: Paediatric HDU consultant 2008 to 2015, Training Programme Director London 2008 to 2017, Kings College Hospital Assistant Director of Medical Education 2010 to 2015, MSc Advanced Paediatrics Course Director KCL 2009-2015, RCPCH Officer for recruitment 2017 to 2025, Kings College Hospital Clinical Director 2018 to 2022. He loves hiking and family time and travelling to Italy and practicing his very poor Italian and winding up Arsenal fans!

She completed her specialist training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Allergy in Cape Town, South Africa. Her interests include all aspects of paediatric allergy especially food allergy, the role of allergy in asthma, allergic rhinitis, drug allergies and allergen immunotherapy. She served as Honorary Secretary and Trustee of the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI) 2019-2022 and as member of the BSACI Standards of Care Committee contribute to developing national Allergy guidelines. She represented the Royal College of Paediatrics on the NICE technology appraisal of Pharmalgen for venom immunotherapy and worked on the RCPCH Allergy Care Pathways project for the Drug, Latex and Venom allergy pathways. Lead for the Respiratory and Allergy Module and International Child Health modules of the KCL Advanced Paediatrics MSc –developed and lead these modules 2012 to 2023.
